A lifetime of bringing stories to people.
Although Shoreline Stories is a young independent publishing company, its roots reach back through a lifetime devoted to communication, media, entrepreneurship, and storytelling.
Founder and publisher Lora Rodriguez first discovered the power of connecting with an audience behind a radio microphone in Louisiana. Working as a disc jockey and recording commercial advertisements taught her that storytelling can live in a voice, a carefully chosen phrase, or a well-timed pause. In an industry built around holding a listener's attention, she developed an early desire to draw people in—not simply by delivering information, but by creating a genuine connection.
During that same early period, Lora played a key role in developing and producing a local Louisiana trading-post newspaper. Seeing community information, advertising, design, printing, and distribution come together awakened a lasting love for the entire publishing process.
The journey
From the microphone to the printed page.
Radio & community print
As a disc jockey, commercial voice talent, and contributor to a Louisiana trading-post newspaper, Lora learned how thoughtful communication can make an audience stop, listen, and care.
Supporting independent publishers
Beginning in 1994, Lora worked in the sales and marketing division of a large publishing company. She assisted independent owners as they began their magazine-publishing journeys, supported market development and training, managed contracts and publication transfers, and quoted and sold custom publications.
Editor in metro Atlanta
Lora became editor of her own real estate magazine and participated in every stage of production—from advertising design and editorial planning to pagination, printing, and distribution.
Family business leadership
After the housing crisis closed the magazine, she brought her marketing and management experience into the family-owned business, helping guide its operations and customer relationships until retirement.
